From the intriguing double album In Your Honour, Resolve is a small dose of excellent contemporary American rock. What is it about this band that makes them so bloody appealing? It's the damn good music, of course.
It has a delicacy that feels like it's been handled by a French baker, yet a certain amount of aggression during the chorus that adds some heaviness to a song that is essentially a ballad. It is destined for radio and chart success, not only because the band have a firm fan base, but because their music leaks into other areas.
The Foo Fighters have widely established themselves as a terrific and worthwhile rock band that not only appeal to a young audience but also to ageing rockers who wonder what happened to the great bands of yesteryear. While some bands lampoon around and care too much about their image and press attention, the Foo Fighters make creditable songs, and this single proves they are worth serious attention.
