It must be a tough job following up one of the best singles of this, or any other, year. Take Me Out was so good it still sounds fresh and exciting now, three months after it was first released.
It's not so tough for Franz Ferdinand though - quite honestly they could have taken any track from their debut album and it wouldn't have disappointed. Matinée bounces along unstoppably as Alex Kapronos croons lyrics about undoing the buttons of his blazer, before effortlessly creating yet another addictively infectious chorus.
Besides all this, it's the first song ever to namecheck Terry Wogan which is surely reason enough to propel it to Number One. Another step along the way to world domination then.
