Deservedly given the accolade of "essential new tune" by Pete Tong some weeks back, this is a record to spin at a party once the drinks are kicking in, and fully justifies the hushed tones in which Freeform Five are being spoken.
No sotto voce here though - in reality Eeeeaaooww (great title!) is a breath of fresh air. The chorus has elements of Basement Jaxx and definitely Prince but the addition of Bounty Killer ensures the track has an individuality, a most appealing rough edge. And like all good party numbers, the louder you play it the better it sounds.
It's rare to see a band actually justify the hype, but this lot are looking good tips for both commercial and critical success. Something original at last.
