Now on their third album, London's own Freestylers release Get A Life on 12" as a taster for the forthcoming album Raw As F**K. Despite breaks credentials stretching back some 15 years, Freestylers Matt Cantor, Aston Harvey and Andrew Galea have seemed like the Kidz Club wing of Breakbeat Manor. It's more than possible this probably unfair impression was engendered by their choice of fresh faces to star in the the vid of their monster monster hit B-Boy Stance.
But from the slammin' opening of Get A Life, there's no doubt the boys have got some adult-sized beats for Christmas. And they're gonna use 'em. Keeping company with Roni Size has done them no disservice either, as Reprazent's own Onallee gets on board for some get-on-over vocals.
Big Roni's unmastered remix is a little on the frantic side, while Aussies Poxy Music's take seems to have been dropped in the Great Barrier Reef on the way over. All told, there's still just enough cheese to remind us of The Last Days Of Big Beat, but Get A Life might just net the Freestyler boys another crossover hit.
