You could be forgiven for thinking that this might be anything to do with Sean Paul or Levi Roots' "reggae, reggae sauce", but such thoughts should be quickly banished, as despite the title this is actually more down the singer/songwriter route.
The Hot Cookin' in question seems to be of the southern fried variety, though G-Love have in fact been in existence for fifteen years now. Typifying their approach, this is comparatively mild, loping pop music with cogent guitar lines and a nicely pointed hammond organ.
All very agreeable and pleasant then, the sort of thing you'd be happy to stick on of a Sunday morning to accompany some chores - but not music that will retreat into the background and bore you to tears, as the vocals have plenty of substance. Not your average hip hop Joes, then.
