Are 50 Cent and The Game friends now? I lose track of these little hip-hop tiffs, 50 getting the hump because The Game wore the same outfit he was going to wear to the bitches-and-Cristal Jacuzzi party, or whatever it is rappers argue about.
Rifts aside, this is typical hip-hop fare: boy grows up dealing drugs, boy discovers talent for rapping, boy gets rich, boy buys mum Mercedes, girl gets part in video as scantily clad sycophant. Though when The Game announces "I'm rap's MVP" you're inclined to raise a quizzical eyebrow in the direction of 50 Cent and Dr. Dre and wonder if that claim would be even half plausible without their guiding hands.
Still, complaining about a rapper's empty display of bravado is like an average school dinner: fruitless. And there's no doubt Hate It Or Love It is a solid piece of hip-hop; Dre is on good soul-sampling production form, Fiddy's verses are amongst the best he's penned in a while and The Game does posses a certain gruff charm in his rather stilted flow.
