Say what you like about Simon Cowell, but he's a clever bloke. Not content with flooding the airwaves with talent shows, or attempting to ensure the entire top 10 consists of his acts, he's now managing to release records by someone who's primarily known for dancing.
George Sampson, if you remember, was the winner of ITV's Britain's Got Talent, a 15 year old street dancer from Warrington who won the competition thanks to breakdancing over Mint Royale's version of Singin' In The Rain. Which is all very impressive, but it doesn't actually qualify him to release a single, does it?
Tell that to Cowell, who's basically strung together a load of samples of songs such as Jailhouse Rock, Play That Funky Music and Jump Around by House Of Pain - kind of a less credible version of Girl Talk, truth be told with George's rather weedy rap breathlessly whispered over the top.
It's utterly disposable and completely unoriginal, but there is a sense of fun to it which may well appeal to anyone under about 16 years of age. And all proceeds go to Great Ormond Street Hospital, so we can't be too sniffy about it.
