Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. - The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager (Part One) (Atlantic)
UK release date:11 September 2006
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. A name that exudes youth and carefree revelry. Thankfully, the artist otherwise known as Sam Duckworth is more than up to his billing; this potent mix of wistful social reflection and jubilant drum-beats is one that will leave you feeling utterly refreshed.
The Chronicles of a Bohemian Teenager, from the forthcoming album of the same name, begins delicately with Duckworth cooing "Get over here, let's grab ourselves another beer, to drink until tomorrow to forget that we're still alive". This sombre procession leaves the song in danger of becoming rather dark, before an injection of drums, cornet and Duckworth's own laptop-based sound effects merrily bursts into life.
This new-found pace gives a light-hearted feel to Duckworth's nostalgia as he crows "This one's for the friends, and also for the sound of distant laughter". Quite the romantic, we have here.
A rousing and instantly memorable testament to youth and all of the joys therein, there is something about Get Cape that everyone can latch on to. More than likely, this is the launch for an LP that will sell in droves.
