If you don't already have this in album form, you're either deaf, stupid or marooned on a desert island without a chance of reading this anyway, because Sam 'Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly' Duckworth was one of the best new things to come out of last year and the album from which this is taken, Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager, was one of the best of 2006.
I Spy, for those of you who just need a gentle reminder, is the one about it being "just a simple tune", with the kind of existential lyrics that make music into metafiction and help to elevate him above so many of the other singer-songwriters around at the moment. Singles like this, that come back around so long after the album was first released, are a real joy - like a familiar old friend dropping by to gently query why you haven't visited for a while and before you know it, you really can't remember whatever kept you away. Beautiful.
