Ghosts are already being tipped as one of the bands to watch in 2007, and Stay The Night shows why.

Like The Feeling or The Fray they straddle the indie/pop divide with the sure footedness of an over confident mountain goat. There's a definite pop edge to Ghosts, but it comes from a sound we thought dead and buried. But as their moniker suggests some things come back to haunt you. Whether the presence of blaring excited horn sections direct from the '80s is a good thing or not is an entirely subjective thing. At times it's just too overbearing to stand - on the other hand it adds a distinctive edge to their sound.

Stay The Night starts off pitched somewhere in the middle of a musical orgy where Guillemots are attempting to woo Dexy's Midnight Runners by playing a funked up version Love Cats before it opens out into a fairly ordinary but supremely catchy indie stompalong. It's all very polite, and sure to be a hit.

If Ghosts wanted to stay the night, you could let them with no worries - they'd probably bring you breakfast in bed and make sure their beds were made before they left in the morning.
