Annie Hardy is like one of those girls your mother warned you about growing up. And doesn't she just know it. Her seductive, disinterested purring is one of the major selling points of Giant Drag's debut album Hearts And Unicorns, home of lyrical delights such as You Fuck Like My Dad and My Dick Sux.
This Isn't It is classic Giant Drag. Opening with a blissful barrage of guitar, Hardy brutally puts a doomed lover out of his misery with the kiss off chorus of "love, love, love - you wouldn't know it if it hit you". It's like PJ Harvey jamming with My Bloody Valentine with a sugar coated production which draws you into the song expertedly.
There's also a demo version of Blunt Picket Fence and an acoustic rendition of album highlight Pretty Little Neighbour that prove that Hardy and bandmate Micah Calabrase aren't always about sheer power. Surrender to the twisted beauty of Giant Drag, but just don't say your mother didn't warn you when Annie sends you packing with a broken heart...
