If you want to make some money you could do a lot worse than to religiously buy all of Fierce Panda's singles the minute they come out. Not only did they put out that Oasis 'classic' Wibbling Rivalry, they were first in line for Keane and then they put out Gledhill's first offering Resurrect Me. Fierce Panda equals eBay gold.

Gledhill's second single Remain may not be with Fierce Panda (although reassuringly, it is on a UK independent label), but it is sure to push them further into the limelight and increase the value of their previous single ten fold. Without a doubt, this is the kind of thing we have been hearing from the likes of Keane, but Gledhill take it a step further. Not content with settling for the biggest bands of the moment, they have their sights on bigger fish - U2 in the mid 80s for example. Though guitar lines throughout reek of the Edge's trademark sound and there's a brave attempt at a stadium rock anthemic chorus, Remain somehow falls a little short and sounds more like a Simple Minds cast-off.

They may well have Oasis producer Owen Morris twiddling the knobs for them - which has resulted in a sound that is both expansive and incredibly mature - but you can't help but feel that it's all a little bit dated. You will probably find yourself falling in love with Gledhill, but you won't entirely understand why; unless The Breakfast Club is your favourite film.
