Having played with the likes of Futureheads, We Are Scientists, and more recently, Scouting For Girls, Go:Audio seem prepared to go the distance to get themselves heard. Second single, Made Up Stories, sees the four-piece unleash their Jimmy Eat World-at-a-rave pop-punk to the masses.
Perhaps the most notable thing about Made Up Stories is the immaculate production. The drums and guitars are airtight and scything, the mix crisp and biting. But unlike other bands who opt for a highly produced sound to mask an inadequacy in songwriting (I’m looking at you Millencolin), Go:Audio’s songwriting stands up to it.
Made Up Stories will win no awards for originality, but is a harmless, catchy, and highly accessible piece of pop punk. The guitars sound great, the chorus is big with a winning vocal melody, and the programming and synth work of Josh Wilkinson really spices up a tiring genre.
