The title track on recent album Black Cherry is blissful. While most of that second album is exciting urban funk, this harks back to the gorgeous expansive soundscapes of Felt Mountain - plaintive strings, spaced-out melodies and soaring over everything, the unmistakable voice of Alison Goldfrapp.
B-side Gone To Earth is a treat too, in the same vein. There's a slightly oriental feel to the off-key piano intro before it turns into the most ethereal chill out music imaginable.
CD 2 offers remixes of Black Cherry and Twist, the previous single, and the DVD includes Utopia (the other blissed-out song from Felt Mountain) recorded live and the video for Strict Machine. One for the collectors, really.
