After the relatively insipid Number 1, Goldfrapp return with a funky little dance number, released after their latest UK tour dates. And if the album covers hadn't already given it away, the title of the new single confirms it - Alison Goldfrapp does like her animals, any which way.
Which is just as well. In common with much of current album Supernature and its predecessor Black Cherry, Alison eschews any desire her listeners may have to hear her wonderful voice open up its considerable range. Instead of something breathing, with feelings, she gives us AlisonBot, Aluminium Alison the dancefloor automaton, leaving the track's interesting facets to synths guru Will Gregory. His warm, fuzzy production is guaranteed to get you riding too, whether you have a stallion to hand or not.
Amongst myriad B sides and remixes is DFA's rather fun, kitchen sink and dirty dishes take on Slide In. It's a lot less precise than Goldfrapp's own sound, and comes across like anarchy by comparison.
