It's been a rocky road for Gomez, but as Hut prepares to issue a 2CD best of, the band continue on their carefree way at their current home, releasing another single from the How We Operate album.

See The World is prime radio material, and that's by no means a criticism. It's easy to listen to, the light country tinges round the edges making sure it doesn't descend into blandness. "See the world, find an old fashioned girl", urges the sing-along chorus, with a walking bass drum moving Tom Gray and friends at an easy pace, the singer's lightly bluesy vocal nicely done. Open air textures and a complete lack of angst are just two of the enjoyable elements here.

Of course this won't stop the band's doubters, who've already made up their minds and sold their copies of Bring It On or Liquid Skin, but for those who've believed, Gomez are still exhibiting a clean bill of musical health.
