It's almost impossible to talk about this song without resorting to comparisons with The Feeling. But don't look away just yet, as Grace have plenty of impressive weapons at their disposal, and this song stands on its own two feet eventually.
The comparisons are drawn out of singer John-Paul Jones' vulnerable vocals, which have a similar timbre and sentiment. Yet a strong chorus comes out of the vulnerability of the verse, and you'll be fighting not to sing along by the time the song reaches a firm resolution.
The album Detours proves their individuality beyond reproach with a set of fine songs, while B-side Pay To See Me shows a pleasing weirdness that incorporates a very English sounding string quartet sound. A fine pop music package.
