It's surely never been more difficult for a band to cultivate a sound that's original, particularly when that band is using the conventional tools of the trade.

Yet Grace have a certain appeal, leaning towards the soft rock given greater prominence by bands like The Feeling but doing so with style and polish.

A distinctive falling harmonic progression, cleverly layered vocals in the chorus and singer John-Paul Jones's tales of getting cold feet seal it - this is a sweetly melancholic debut that deserves plenty of airspace.
