Another product of the seemingly endless conveyor belt of talent from Manchester, Grand Transmitter have been catching people's eyes recently by supporting Keane and The Stands, amongst others.
This four track EP is an excellent debut release that brings to mind the more epic moments of Doves. Lead singer Jake Fletcher's voice recalls Richard Ashcroft, as best demonstrated on the dramatic You Are Not Alone. The best track though must be Slaves, which starts off as a folky lament before builds up to a passionate climax,
2004 is certainly shaping up to be a great year for British music. After the emergence of both Keane and Franz Ferdinand, Grand Transmitter could well be the next name to watch.
