"I've got some words of wisdom," snarls Nick Cave. "He got in the British weeklies, he got in the dailies too / He drink panther piss and fucked the girls you're probably married to." It's a limited edition 7" and download release to herald the arrival of Grinderman.
Grinderman is comprised of Cave, Dirty Three founder Warren Ellis, The Triffids' Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos of Sonic Youth and The Vanity Set.
All four are Bad Seeds, and with Cave on lead vocals there are things on common between the two bands - but this sounds dirtier, soupier, scarier, like the soundtrack to biting your nails in a dungeon. There's no conventional drumkit, and the entire song sounds like a build-up to the arrival of one. It is instead the build-up to an eagerly awaited album, due in March. On this evidence it will not be comprised of love songs or balladry.
