At a time when intelligent pop is in short supply, Guillemots come along and save the day, and continue to brim over with catchy hooks and rather bizarre lyrics. Enter new single, Annie, Lets Not Wait.
Guillemots are good, and that's not just my personal opinion. The facts are beginning to speak for themselves, their album has gone gold and they were recently nominated for the Mercury music award. So, adopting the 'if it ain't broke' mentality, Guillemots release new single Annie Lets Not Wait, the fourth from their rather likeable and well liked album.
Mr. Dangerfield outdoes himself in the strange lyrics stakes, with such beauties as "I found something crying, it was my soul/ I fed it milk so it wouldn't grow old." Couple this with the mandatory janglyness, and then nestle it amongst a smattering of quaint vocal harmonies and you'll begin to get a flavour of this song. Don't arrive believing that this is very different, and dangerous this most certainly is not, but if you like melodious, grown-up pop, you've come to the right place.
