Boston-based harmony meisters Guster couldn't be further away from a musical one man wrecking machine: they're more likely to be part of the clean-up crew, wafting in afterwards with acoustic guitars and a few flowers, offering you a nice smile and a hand up from the rubble.
This doesn't make their new single rubbish, mind you, just not the heavy metal noisefest its title may make you suspect it of being. A gentle 60s-style pop ballad about homecoming queens and similar New England picket-fenced gentleness, this is a song for a warm summer afternoon with homemade lemonade and a gingham tablecloth.
One Man Wrecking Machine is catchy, listenable and ticks all the right boxes for what a summer single should be. Even better, you'll find it along with 11 of its equally listenably summery chums on their new album Ganging Up On The Sun. Great stuff.
