In 2002, the Brighton based Hardkandy released their debut LP, How Do You
Do Nothing, to critical acclaim. With the recently released follow up, Last
To Leave, Hardkandy hope to build on the success of the previous album.
Advice is the second single from Last To Leave.
On vocal duty is the folk-jazz legend Terry Callier. His voice croons
over a beautifully lazy, bright acoustic guitar, sounding almost prophetic.
Advice is also laden with shimmering string arrangements that add a luscious
and harrowing element to the song. It's dark, down-tempo chill out wizardry
and is destined for summer chill out albums all across the land.
Hardkandy have delivered on the value-for-money side of things too, being
as there are about a hundred remixes of Advice, not least one by Hardkandy
themselves which sees Advice get the lounge big beat treatment. Nice stuff,
but it's the original A-Side that steals the show.
