There are so many new bands coming out of Yorkshire at the moment that you fully expect some enterprising record company to sling a flat cap on a whippet and launch him as the next big thing. Following some band called Arctic Monkeys out of South Yorkshire come Barnsley boys Harrisons.

Not that you'd know Harrisons are of Yorkshire stock - there's no Alex Turner style regional vocals, nor the Kaisers' habit of writing lyrics including the phrase "tell thee". Blue Note is a rousing, anthemic song with a foot stomping chorus and a palpable energy that recalls the best of punk and new wave. It's damn good, although it's debatable whether it has the required spark of originality to really catch fire.

B-side Shirley's Temple is equally good, recalling the best moments of Maximo Park. You may shortly become rather bored of this whole 'New Yorkshire' nonsense, but before you do, give Harrisons a try.
