Haven - Wouldn't Change a Thing (Radiate)

UK release date: 15 March 2004
Haven - Wouldn't Change a Thing
Once described as Noel Gallagher's favourite up and coming band, the initial promise of Haven's early singles and first album Between The Senses seems to be wearing a little thin.

Produced by Johnny Marr, the title track starts promisingly enough with the wall of sound that opened debut single Say Something, and Gary Briggs' voice sounds as good as ever, but the killer hook seems to be missing this time. Granted the yearning, lovelorn feeling is still there and there are some nice studio touches, but the song struggles to raise itself to the truly memorable.

More Than I Said is more of the same, a strong vocal but a weaving melody that doesn't tend to stay in the mind. It's clear from this package that Haven are musically sound and assured, but they may need to introduce a bit more variety into their music to keep the fans interested.
