She's female, she's a little bit country, a little bit folk, and Terry Wogan already loves her. Yes, the York singer/songwriter Hayley Hutchinson has already ticked the right boxes for future success quicker than you can whisper the words Katie and Melua.
Thankfully, there's a bit more to her than the usual generic folkie female that the Irish broadcasting legend loves so much. Here's The Love is terrific - catchy, upbeat and beautifully sung by Hutchinson. It's one of those songs that's guaranteed to cheer you up, no matter what sort of mood you're in when you hear it. Her voice is uncannily reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, especially on the acoustic-based back up tracks, but there's also elements of Sheryl Crow and Shelby Lynne hanging round there.
In fact, if you're a Crow fan then you won't go far wrong with Here's The Love. Hutchinson has the right friends on her side (David Bowie is also a fan, and various members of Shed Seven play on her upcoming album), and it shouldn't be long before Hayley Hutchinson is a household name. Very promising indeed.
