Hinder. A band desperately trying to hark back to the stadium filling, hair metal bands of the '80s. Well, that's all well and good, but not if you sound exactly like your predecessors.

Now don't get me wrong, I love Motley Crue and I think Aerosmith are a great band, but that doesn't mean that I automatically qualify as a Hinder fan. The main problem I have with this band, as you may have already guessed, is that they lack any sort of originality whatsoever. They are all competent musicians who certainly know how to construct a song, and the singing does have a familiar and likeable tone to it, but there is nothing new here, and not a trace of irony to be found.

The new single itself is a power ballad a la Aerosmith with overtones of Nickelback. Unsurprising considering the band recently supported the latter on tour. Unfortunately, I am struggling to find anything likeable about Lips Of An Angel, as it is about as boring and generic as they come. However, musically there is nothing particularly wrong with the track and I am sure that Hinder will find there place among the Nickelbacks of the world.
