All you need is hope. Or is it love? Anyway, in todays hard bitten society, neither is probably apt anymore, unless you hope you get a penicillin sandwich and then fall in love when you actually do. But that's not important right now.
What is important is this, the second single to be released from HOTS new album Left. And it's possibly the friendliest thing they've ever done. Which is relative of course, for while no part of Sing It Out shuffles up to you and nuzzles your crotch, the chorus at least attempts a bit of "who's with me?" fist pumping, before the verses return to writhe and spit and threaten to kill you with a shoe.
Propelled along by an insistent rhythm section, which at least hints at the "Joy Division gone disco" second album they joked was in store, and cut through with a new-wavy guitar riff which continually twists around the song and into your subconscious, it's amongst their finest moments yet. Musically at least, all you need is Hope.
