The new single from Hope Of The States is... Ah, forget it.
There's no point. This article could go on for pages and it would make no difference. The total tonnage of the words could top the extended, directors-cut version of War and Peace (with the alternate ending included) and tomorrow you'll go out and buy your fourteenth copy of the Kaiser Chiefs' album and that whizzy new record from James 'I'm not Blunt' Morrison.
So why bother? Why bother mentioning the herds of graceful strings elegantly grazing across the epic chorus, or the plaintive simplicity that drives the whole thing forward with an unbowed determination. It's not even worth noting that it's basically about a tenth of the song that it should be - and is on the album - thanks to the hacking that's been done in order to fit it under the banner of sub-four minute radio-friendliness.
Tragically, nothing will make any difference. So excuse me if my time is spent elsewhere, most probably making wicker effigies of Katie Melua and stocking up on petrol.
