Over and Over was, over and over, completely addictive. What chance a new band could get the mix between DIY pop melody and electroloops so fabulously right twice? Hot Chip have with Boy From School.
From second album The Warning, Boy From School sports male-female vocal harmonies that wouldn't sound out of place on an alt.country woozefest - somewhere between Scritti Politti and Mojave 3 - but pounding drums and keyboard loops take the song in the direction of Giorgio Moroder and Kraftwerk. Singalong chorus and electro beats? Surely a recipe for base covering.
By the end it's all calmed down to glocks and tinkles of the Matmos/Sigur Ros ilk. Poptastically lovely.
