Hot Chip return, bearing a heavier weight of expectation with the success of The Warning and its constituent parts. So is their new material a step onwards or more of the same?
Ready For The Floor does bear an undoubted resemblance to Boy From School at first glance, but it's actually even more subtle in its use of brushed electro beats and clever countermelodies. Alexis Taylor's vocal remains quietly dreamy, but given strong material it starts to burn into your consciousness after several listens, and the chorus is a real grower.
If this is the form they'll be showing on the Made In The Dark album then a real treat lies in store, and you'll be dancing to their brand of quietly thoughtful but ultimately uplifting music, either on the floor or in your head.
