For those of you yet to have the pleasure, Hot Club de Paris are most easily described as a cross between The Wombats and Lily Allen, except they've been doing it for much longer and are at least as good.
Will You Still Be In Love With Me Next Year? is the Scouse trio's stab at a Christmas single. Take a band dripping with the trappings of a novelty act, stick them in the studio to record a novelty single and, as you'd image, the outcome works rather well.
Part punk stand-up, part pop-poetry, bittersweet lyrics over a gently low-fi beat should be much more acceptable as a Christmas Number One than Cliff Richard but as the world is mad, it probably won't work that way. Shame.
