Off-kilter, oddball guitar riffery, fortified by a formidable rhythmic
force that features a solid, monotone bassline. This is Humanzi's latest
single.
Humanzi are Dublin's latest export, a four piece potentially set
for big things in 2006. Long Time Coming mixes dark rock with art rock with
the slightest hint of - whisper it - glam. The citation of Roxy Music
as an important influence also resonates through this fizzy, spiky edged
creation.
The work of vocalist Mulrooney is less appealing than on previous
release, Fix The Cracks, but with the gothic disco choruses that
rattle through Long Time Coming you can afford Humanzi a little leeway.
They seem like a band with an agenda for domination, and more than a few
tricks up their sleeve. Let's hope we see it on their forthcoming debut
album.
