A rather severe case of something not quite adding up here I'm afraid. Stick this on the stereo and wander into the kitchen to pop the kettle on, and you could be forgiven for having to run back to the CD player to check you've put the right disc in the drawer. Diet Pills And Magazines sounds as if Humanzi have been listening to Primal Scream's XTRMNTR on an endless loop whilst studying interviews with ill informed 'subversive' rock stars barely out of nappies (or rehab).

It certainly feels like a kick ass rock tune drenched in dirt to begin with, but with vocal lines that attempt to take on serious subject matter falling hopelessly flat, and a half inched attempt at rock fury, it's actually fairly difficult to accept that Humanzi have an original idea in their heads. I mean: "nobody tries to break the system, it seems to me there's something hidden from us...This is the shit so get used to it" is hardly groundbreaking stuff. Poorly considered conspiracy theory is soooo last year and not a little embarrassing.

Yes, governments lie, deceive and cover things up. I agree that advertising is loathsome and misleading. Taking on these subject matters should require the sound of a revolution, and Humanzi sound like they would take on a nuclear superpower with pitchforks. For serious musical critique on the atrocious acts of Government, check out Thom Yorke's Harrowdown Hill - that is the real sound of dissent.
