Finnish sextet Husky Rescue made ripples with their enchanting debut album Country Falls, a glacial chillout record that proved ideal as an early hours soundtrack.
Now they've stepped up the pace a little with the contradictory Nightless Night, which finds Reeta-Leeta Korhola singing endearingly of the rush of the city and the endless daylight of the country - an Arctic Circle thing, clearly! The quicker backing and crisp guitars suggest the Cardigans, with a hint of Nina Persson in Korhola's voice as well, but there's much to ensure this track is nowhere near derivative.
Remixes from a downtempo Fink, Justus Kohncke's blend of house music and some light breakbeat from label mates Black Grass make up a satisfying EP, which bodes well for the forthcoming album, not to mention future singles projects.
