If you like your music to be pop-tinged indie with a definite hint of late 90s bounciness to it, then this latest project from the former Supernaturals front-man James McColl is certainly going to be one for you. Hailing from Glasgow and together less than a year they unquestionably fall into that hotly contested 'Ones To Watch' category.
This track is something of a change of direction for McColl, much less idiosyncratic and more radio-friendly. The choice of Fili for vocals is also an absolute masterstroke, as she brings that combination of firm yet fragile that blends perfectly with overall package and adds just a soupcon of Lily Allen.
They're not as easy to a label on as you might think, although if you were looking to make a descriptive comparison, then a female-fronted Coral would probably suffice. All in all, it's quirky, it's catchy, it's infectious and it's a toe-tapping little gem of a record that gets inside your brain and finds itself quite at home there. Definitely one to add to your collection.
