Ian Brown is a tortoise. "What!?", you cry. "Surely not!" But he is. He's a tortoise and John Squire is a hare. Ah-ha! Becoming a bit clearer now isn't it? It's one of dem new-fangled metaphor thingamabobbies. Aesop's Fables? Slow and steady wins the race, and all that.

So while Brown is crossing the finish line, readying the release of his Greatest Hits (of which this is one of two new tracks to feature), Squire is still metaphorically asleep on the side of the road. And whilst there, if he took a little time to plead for forgiveness for the pain he caused us with the fucking Seahorses, that'd be welcome.

With the contest won, All Ablaze basically becomes a fart in Squires general direction. Not his best solo work by any means, but good enough and, with it's vaguely eastern strings and electronic baubles that squelch like a half-full wellington boot coupled to Brown's trademark pseudo-messianic whisper, a damn-sight better than 90% of the other singles out this week. And he's still a tortoise.
