Norwegian singer Ida Maria first came to our attention earlier this year with the exhilarating Oh My God - part PJ Harvey, part The Strokes, and all mixed together in a blistering ball of energy, it was one of the year's best songs.
Drive Away My Heart isn't quite as attention-grabbing, but it does prove that Oh My God was no one-off. Ida sneers, snarls and bawls her way through some pretty dark lyrics while her band (also called Ida Maria, confusingly enough) expertly infuse the song with a nervous, scratchy sort of energy.
Miles away from the happy smiley wistfulness of the majority of fellow Scandinavian indie-pop types, Ida Maria is a name you'll be hearing a lot more of throughout the next 12 months.
