Fresh from wowing the crowds at this year's South By Southwest festival, the Los Angeles-based party rockers follow-up the limited edition Violent And Young release with this sure-fire hit, their debut for Mercury Records.
Iglu & Hartley have been compared to everyone from MGMT and Buggles, but if anything In The City comes across as the bastard child of Junior Senior's ubiquitous 2003 hit Move Your Feet. Yes, this single could be that big.
A dayglo riot of synth pop, semi-rapped vocals, acoustic bridges and a funky rhythm section, In The City ticks all the right boxes for a classic pop single. Insanely catchy and never outstaying its welcome, this song practically demands repeat plays.
Any caveats? Yes; why oh why is this being released at the dog end of the British summer? We needed this track three months ago to play while cruising around the M25 with the roof down in our souped-up cabriolets. Its summery pop charms just don't sit right in the gloomy Autumn.
