Don't listen, it's a lie! What on earth am I talking about? Well, despite the name this isn't actually a release from a creation inspired by Robot Wars. The aptly named Song One is the first single from this US five piece's self-titled debut album.
The intro to Song #1 is the equivalent to a mellowed out Mad Capsule Markets song, with a funky electro beat the basis of this. Don't let that put you off - Ima Robot's single is what could only be described as prog-garage rock. There is something of the Hivesabout them, minus the Swedishness.
Song #1 ends abruptly - at under two and a half minutes it's a desperately short offering - but long enough to suggest there is a whole lot more to Ima Robot than a silly name.
