Iron Maiden - Wildest Dreams (EMI)

release date: 1 September 2003
Iron Maiden - Wildest Dreams

Sit back, close your eyes and think back to a time when Britain was ruled by an Iron Lady, Saddam Hussein was a valuable source of income generation and the thought of a Russian owning an English football club would have brought politicians out in a rash (though not a red one, of course).

In other words, Wildest Dreams is classic Maiden with all the de rigeur constituents - a "1-2-3-4" intro, twin guitars battling for supremacy, a widdly, air guitar-tastic solo and Bruce Dickinson's operatic vocal delivering a foot on the monitor, fist in the air, anthemic chorus.

Get out the white trainers, faded jeans and ill-fitting black T-shirt and salute a band who know what their fans want and will be damned if they're gonna give them anything different.
