Renewing their fertile Mercury-nominated partnership of two years hence, Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan showcase their forthcoming album Sunday At Devil Dirt with this, a bittersweet ballad of redemption.

Again their vocals fit hand in glove. Softly singing in unison, Lanegan's gruff bass and Campbell's softly sung, breathy alto come together, answering their own questions with the lyric "we were so lonely at times...we built the road".

It's an exquisite taster for the new record, sensitively accompanied by a beautiful yet restrained string arrangement. As unlikely musical partnerships continue to flourish - witness Robert Plant and Alison Krauss's continued success - it's good to see one renewed.
