This is something quietly special. From the opening seconds of Other Cars Go the effect is that of an aural massage, as a softly pulsing bass matches perfectly with hushed unison vocals. All the listener has to do is sit back and enjoy.
What impresses most about this band, though, is the subtly powerful impact their music makes. This may initially be all about taking time out after a long stretch on the daily grind, but Other Cars Go has a cumulative power that gradually asserts itself, the guitars powering up and touches of psychedelia added round the edges. Through it all the steady bass remains as a comfort.
This has already become something of a live staple for the band, yet B-side Little Steps shows they have plenty in reserve. Fully deserving of their 'ones to watch' tag, this is a band that should be seen and heard at the earliest possible opportunity.
