With a name like It Hugs Back, you'd expect a lovely, big, warm embrace of a sound, wrapping its arms around you and caressing all the troubles of the world away. And, handily enough, that's just what It Hugs Back provides.
They've been dubbed part of the 'nu-shoegazing' scene, but Early Evening holds back on the feedback, instead employing a gorgeously plucked acoustic guitar and adding handclaps and a very subtle brass section to extremely dreamy effect. Like a less tortured Elliott Smith, one listen will soothe away all your concerns.
B-side Saving is more upbeat and noisy, but to no less heartwarming effect. Too Pure could well have something extremely special on their hands here.
