A good wine apparently improves with age. If this is true, J-Kwon must be a beer, or, more likely, an alcopop: At the tender age of 17 he bounced back from personal traumas (including homelessness) to land a record deal on hip-hop mogul Jermaine Dupri's label. Does it get any better?
Actually, it does. Tipsy is hitting the shelves as one of the best hip-hop tracks of the year so far, balancing mainstream lyrical appeal with the musical integrity of an American Dizzee Rascal. Controversy has helped too; despite Tipsy's hard partying video, J-Kwon denies that the track promotes teen drinking. I'm not so sure.
So as J-Kwon can't get into the club because of his age, those inside are bound to be enjoying his instantly recongisable anthem, complete with super size drum loop and micro-electronic backing. By the looks of things he won't be outside for long. Definitely one to watch.
