Ja-Rule is an absolute lover of collaborations and in the next instalment from his The Last Temptation album, fellow Murder Inc artist, Ashanti is the chosen one. Mesmerise, the second single from this album, is sexy hip hop/rap at its best. Fairly explicit in its lyrics, there is no question in any listeners mind as to its subject. Ja-Rule is on heat and has got a girl who will 'ride, ride, ride'.
Apparently the video of this song is causing an even bigger stir. Teenage movie, Grease has been stripped of its innocence as Ashanti and Ja-Rule re-enact the final funfair scene. Not sure if I can ever bring myself to watch.
All in all, I wasn't keen on this song at first but I think that was more of an attitude to this genre of music than being specific. After a few listens I gave up the fight, for this song is quite mesmerising.
