High is the first single from James Blunt's tipped-to-be big debut album Back To Bedlam. And it's an undeniably catchy track; eminently radio-friendly, with enough of a hook to get seriously under your skin.

Blunt has a sweet high voice which soars over an impeccably produced swell of guitars. All very pleasant; it's just a shame about the insipid lyrics. Guess what? He was feeling down, but now he's high, thanks to you.

Blunt's an interesting character, he's already supported Elton John at his recent UK concerts and before he got into the music business he served as a soldier in the Kosovo conflict.

Back To Bedlam promises to investigate this "personal experience of war", makes a selling point of it in fact, but there's not a trace of such dark material on this first offering. No, with lyrics like "you're just blowing my mind again", High aims only to be a (deliciously slick) introduction to a man who is bound to soon be a very familiar name.
