Jamie Cullum is probably the perfect artist to contribute to a Bridget Jones soundtrack. The easy listening king has the kind of universal appeal that will sell shedloads of soundtrack albums, and he has given one of his many cover versions to the Renee Zellwegger starring sequel - this time a rendition of the '60s classic originally recorded by Love Affair.
Cullum's covers have always been distinguished by bringing something new to the party but that's something that's lacking a bit here. It's a more modern, updated version but it lacks the invention of Cullum's other cover version. Like its fellow Bridget soundtrack filler, Jamelia's Stop, this is a pleasant, if unnecessary, cover version.
It will sell loads and if it helps towards shifting more copies of Cullum's excellent Twentysomething then so much the better. However, Cullum can, and will, do much better tracks than this.
