The problem with Jamie Scott is that you know exactly what he's like before you even take the CD from the case. The young photogenic singer/songwriter wandering through a field of corn on the cover, the tasteful font, even a title like Standing In The Rain screams: "I am the new James Morrison/James Blunt/Paolo Nutini - buy my record!"

And indeed, that's what you get. A none too exciting mid-paced ballad featuring the young Scott's admittedly decent voice and some nonsensical, presumably 'sensitive' lyrics about love being one of a kind, and standing in the rain not going to leave you dry. Really? You don't say? It's even got the inevitable string section sawing away underneath it all.

While it's not exactly terrible - it may while away a couple of minutes on the drive home from work - there's nothing of any character here to get excited about. There are only so many young emotional singer/songwriters that people can take before becoming very sick of them - and poor old Jamie Scott may well be a casualty of that.
