Calm down Radiohead fans, it's not another cover version from the Thom Yorke songbook. A million miles away from that, this is the debut single from one of Britain's best upcoming soul artists, and boy is it an impressive introduction.
Jamie Scott displays his silky, soulful voice to the max on this funky R&B number, heavy on big beats and bongos. It's a shame about some of the Michael Jackson style high-pitched vocal leaps but by the end, the song turns into something of a Samba carnival, leaving the bongo player with blisters on his hands as the backing singers get into full swing. There's even a guitar solo to boot.
Scott recently stole the show supporting Lemar on tour and I'm going to make a bold prediction that he'll be just as big a star himself this time next year. A single that shows much promise.
